SUMMARY:Islander Wreck and Bonnie Castle Resort dive site (2 -tank shore dive)
DESCRIPTION:These dive sites are in Alexandria Bay\, NY\, which is easily accessible and very touristic.  The Islander wreck starts shallow and is in low current so is suitable for Basic or Advanced divers. \nJust east of the wreck location is a scuba park\, similar in a sense to the Centeen\, Prescott Scuba park concepts.  There are two suspended training platforms around 30 ft\, with the bottom under them at 60-70 ft.  It is accessible from the Bonnie Castle Resort. The cost is $20 USD as of 2023. There’s lots of parking and some benches similar to Centeen to gear up. \nWe will dive on the Islander in the morning\, have lunch in town\, then dive in the Bonnie Castle Resort dive site after lunch. \nI recommend we have lunch at “Riley’s by the River” (http://rileysbytheriver.com/). \nDon’t forget to bring your passport and cash for the toll bridge! \nRefs: \nhttps://www.divebuddy.com/divesite/1/islander-alex-bay-ny/ \nhttps://www.discoverupstateny.com/packages/4188/wreck-of-islander/

SUMMARY:Prescott Scuba Park
DESCRIPTION:This is a great dive spot for divers at any level. There is a small wreck and a couple of old anchors to see. In 2023 the city added a porta-potti and change rooms and in 2024 will add a scuba bench.

SUMMARY:Morrison's Quarry
DESCRIPTION:This popular site has many attractions including a plane and other items of interest. The water is typically very cold though at any depth so a two layer wetsuit is required with a hood and gloves. \nA good reference site is: https://www.neptune-scuba.info/ca/qc/carriere-morrison-en.html \nThe fee is $20 for entry (cash) to be paid to the quarry owners and a valid FQAS card is required. An FQAS card can be acquired at local dive shops but may require a course to acquire depending on the shop. In fall 2021\, Scuba Finatics ( https://scubafinatics.ca/) seemed to be the best source for these cards. Plan well in advance if you need a new or updated FQAS card. \nThe following image indicates the artifacts to dive.

SUMMARY:Lock 28 to Connie drift
DESCRIPTION:This is a great short drift dive starting at the “Wreck Wee Hawk”. We then swim to the entrance of Lock 28 and then drift downstream and eventually cross into the main channel and end up on the Conestoga (Connie)\, where you can loop around. We often also dive back to near the entrance location. \nIn the bottom left of the image below\, you can see the “Wreck Wee Hawk”.

SUMMARY:Lock 21
DESCRIPTION:Lock 21 is a fairly high current dive so should only be done by advanced divers who are comfortable with higher current dives. It is located off the south-western end of Macdonell Island near Long Sault. \nWeb information sources: \n\nSOS provides a great description and sketch of the lock: https://saveontarioshipwrecks.ca/diverguides/lock-21/\nNeptune: https://www.neptune-scuba.info/ca/on/ecluse-lock-21-en.html\nNew York Times article: https://davidgibbins.com/journal/2016/4/8/diving-lock-21-a-submerged-victorian-canal-lock-on-the-st-lawrence-river-canada\n\nLocation: Lock 21 is located off the south-western end of Macdonell Island. From highway 401\, take exit 778 toward Long Sault. Take the South direction on Moulinette Road up to Highway 2 (also known as King’s Highway). Continue heading South direction on Moulinette Road crossing Highway 2 toward Long Sault Parkway. Follow the route toward McDonell Island (2nd island)stop at the beech are of the 1st Island\, Mille Roches Island to purchase a $10 dive pass\, then continue to McDonell Island. After driving half way across McDonell Island\, take the 2nd gravel road to the left. It will go only for about 40 meters then turn right to travel toward the West direction. It will end in about 60 meters. There is a brown pavilion where information is available about the dive site and an historic tour relating the story of the Lost Villages after the construction of the St.Lawrence Seaway. The Lock is located on the South side of the island on the St.Lawrence lake (not the St.Lawrence River which is located on the other side of the islands on the American side of the border). SUMMARY:Lock 25
DESCRIPTION:This is a shallow\, almost no current dive. We simply travel around an old lock. There can be some pike or carp or other interesting fish depending on the time of year. It is recommended to use a dive float as their can be some boat traffic. You will also want to have a light. \nThe image below shows the parking area in blue or you can park along the side of the road. The red line shows the general dive plan. There are six orange buoys which are tied down by chain\, which can be seen underwater.

SUMMARY:Pumpkin Carving Competition at the Prescott Scuba Park
DESCRIPTION:The goal is to carve a pumpkin underwater\, then we will have a fun judging contest and lunch. \nWhat’s required. \nEach buddy team needs to bring 1 pumpkin (pumpkins cannot be marked or cut in advance)\ndive knife\nlots of extra weights since pumpkins are very buoyant.\nmesh bag to catch pumpkin parts \n(note: alternatively if numbers are small we can have each diver bring a pumpkin and then clear out the cuts before we go in the water.  This makes carving a one-person job vs two.) \nRules:\n45 minutes. \nWe will go to the Red George Pub\, which is beside the parking lot\, for lunch and awards after the dive. \nIf we don’t get 4 divers\, ie two teams\, we will do a regular dive at this location instead.
